Creative Projects

Let’s think SPRING!

The official first day of spring is just about a month away! WooWoo!!  I love all the seasons… but seeing as my birthday is also the first day of spring, I’ve always had a special love for the season.

So – while we’re all stuck mostly indoors – dreaming of warmer weather – why not create a Springy project! 😀
You could definitely do this project with your kids too – as long as you trust them with paint … LOL 😉

spring blocks

Supplies Needed:

  • SPRING vinyl – click to order (shown in bright white)  $14.95 (+T/S)
  • Pine or MDF wood board (to be cut & painted)
  • Sandpaper
  • Craft Paints (spray paint/ acrylic / etc)

STEP 1

Cut wood board into the following blocks:

  • (2) 3.5″ x 2.5″   (P & G)
  • (2) 2″ x 3″  (I & bird)
  • (1) 2″ x 5″  (S)
  • (1) 2″ x 8.5″  (branch)
  • (1) 2″ x 2″  (R)
  • (1) 3″ x 3″  (N)

STEP 2

Sand the edges and any rough spots of each block.  Then wipe clean of any dust.

STEP 3

Choose your paint colors for each block. To make this easier – lay out each block as shown in picture to help you visualize the end product. Then paint your blocks 🙂
Allow to completely dry – I suggest allowing to dry overnight.

STEP 4

Once paint is dry, it’s time to apply your vinyl! Cut each letter & item apart and apply to blocks as described in Step 1.
To apply vinyl, follow these easy steps:

  1. Lay vinyl face down and remove thick paper backing.
  2. Place vinyl on your surface carefully to be sure it’s in place correctly.
  3. Rub over the vinyl with your hand – then with a *damp* paper towel, rub over the vinyl.
  4. Finally, peel back the transfer paper at a 45 degree angle and discard.

STEP 5

ENJOY your new SPRING decor to brighten up your space ❤
